I'm not in complete agreement with this man, because I have NO use
for the RAP/TRAP BULLSHIT anyway. But at least there is someone
else out there that is not afraid to speak up, that is watching and

Dear Mr. Machaffie,


I am not sure if you are one of the White Knights but I have to say
something about this entire connection with RAP.


I have been on the Nesara list for a long time now so I watch the
board.


I have also given my volunteer services for more then 25yrs into
ministries, advocacy for mothers, teens, young adults and homeless.
I have helped and taken into my own home more then 20 young adults.
I organize court watches, help people with court matters and visit
at the jails. I probably know more about legal abuse syndrome,
PTSS, every aspect of ever issue that comes and goes in and out of
the courts from Family/CPS to IRS. My own family has had their own
fill of all of this, a lose/death of a grandson in Oct 2009 by
force vaccines, a first time arrest of my youngest son 24 hrs after
my starting a homeless youth program with "community not government
support, and even now a lawsuit with no due process by extortion
that can literally end in a Lien to my home.
Justice, and due process has always been my focus. God, has always
provided for me and for my family through everything. I never lived
beyond my means even single parenting 5 kids. Supply of needs is in
abundance it is our own misconception that we are running
out.......or don't have enough. You seeby example of people from
the depression how they hoard things because of past fears. There
is also this collective mind-set that works two ways as we see with
the political parties----- --this is the same with RAP and the
County Assemblies who had a mission, who were to support and
defense-we the people- and seek the due process and justice which
has been removed from the people.


But what no one is seeing and I believe this is due to well
orchestrated propaganda within the covert veil of the patriot
movement ( which is always about the $$$$ almighty dollar) is this
same greed and need concept that took over what would have and
could still be a solution for the people. Unfortunately it now
holds a tainted name, a vile and darkness and will never be the
same. They raped their fellow jurors for their own secret needs and
agenda using this mission as their covering. As Tim, said," all
they needed in the beginning to get the military approval were
signatures, we just needed warm bodies". The rest was a Pinkie and
the Brain.


I am writing in complete honest and sincere duress of this matter
and how it has hurt so many people and delayed so much good that
should have happened by now all because of greed and need for power
and control.
It needs to be clear that the division is serious and people need
to understand the spirit behind it and between what I call Tim
Turner SPC people- someone called them Timinite,
He was made into a GOLDEN CALF JURIES DO NOT HAVE
MESSIAHS
No, Tim Turner is not the Messiah, a prophet, not in line with the
Mayan calendar to be Mr. President, he was a FEMA OPERATIVE,
SUPERVISOR, homeland security which also has CIA training. He ran a
prison, he has had a life time as a business man seeking fame,
recognition and money) not being a family man, a father, a preacher
as he comes off to be but he is not......... ......he is a master of
manipulation with the double speak, dialectic.
His two fold fake Christianity, southern charm can only be seen for
the truth through a trained eye to his body language, his eye
movements while he speaks, his stories he tells. He seems to be
another Obama. Pathological. Self-absorbed in his profile, and the
attention people give him, the radio shows, the photos, etc. He has
at least 5 radio programs run or owned by people he assigned as
coordinators, every SPC seminar ended within a week of having
bonding parties and people selected through this process as loyal's
of Turner behave like cultists-embracing the strawman-embracing the
counterfeit government-the corporation. ......."by acknowledgement
of knowledge and signed agreement".
Entire Juries were cut off of communicate if they did not meet the
SPC standards of brainwashing and OBEDIENCE.


The scarcest thing about this and these others involvement in grand
juries which has NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSINESS, SPC or any money
making which is also actually a form of grand jury tampering juries
do not obey outside entities, they do not get in it waiting for
business deals, their homes paid off or anything else, they are to
be on it for justice and due process of the people...... ..not
themselves.


( countless times in public) Tim has spoken out of content of the
discussion at hand and went into things like, how to "pop" people,
shoot them on the spot, like a drug dealer, but then turn to the
republic folks and say, WE NEED FORGIVENESS ( of the de facto
agents) then a minute later he is on a sound box with New World
Order talk ( listen to Rod and Carl: AIB RADIO JULY 20TH, 2010)
9th wave, 5th elements, spirit guides, so which is he ? Another
Rick Warren ? Who is the author of confusion ?
You see I believe if you believe in a religion, a concept, a
spiritual belief, you're a Satanist, ( which actually believe in
Jesus Christ ) an atheist, or whatever, say what you are but this
is a man ( Tim Turner and his sheeple followers) is what ( you )
want him to be.


This was months of well planned strategy to bring this evilness to
fruitation. On Rod Class, 20th tape he says, " RAP went to great
lengths ( you bet they did and not the good people) to pick out the
very best ......RAP, was to establish grand juries, help them but
they were to be independent of RAP. Not even the defacto grand
juries are to be messed with or dictated even by the president.


And the worst is to see people who follow in blind faith and
can justify harming their own jury members, having no remorse to
their behavior, their hidden secrets, lies, and complete lack of
ethics and many daring to call themselves Christians ( or perhaps,
this name is like RAP, "Tainted by counterfeits" .


People ( good, moral, ethical, thinking independent ) who were
selectively pushed aside through lack of integrity, threats,
intimidation, manipulation, lies and more lies.....secret meetings,
calls, blocking on the RAP calls.
We do not even know how many original signers did not vote at all
due to these tactics of deception. If you could have hurt the vile
remarks to Tom Shaults out of the mouths of people like the Alaska
ones who I know, voted no, tossed their nasty coordinators out
mouths ago because of their manipulative behavior and yet who
brought them back behind the scene, Tim and his group....... ...and
they were the only ones unblocked to speak on a call and lied about
their voting. 11 souls in Oregon were and have been completely
isolated out of their RAP jury and did not vote and more then 140
in another entire one and then another entire jury in CA and on and
on.......... ......
Additionally and methodically these were also being worked on
through Tim and the county assembles which many of them ( 60%
RAP-TIMMERS) are the SPC taking over all of it behind the backs the
rest of them


So they sowed dissension even in the assemblies and why
...........greed, money power, position.


Think of the sheer arrogance of these people claiming positions
with people who cant even tie their own shoes, let alone begin to
take power positions to add have no regard for the common people.


This is worse than the de facto....... ..... I think
there needs to be a safe place for people to come forward
concerning all of this........ .......the 1300 original signers need
to be roll called for where they are ( some people are saying they
have not seen or heard from many of these jurors ..why ?) How does
an organization banish its own loathed jurors, block them from
communication and call this fair ? Why does Rod Class of the
assemblies ( taping 14) need $15,000 for training the coordinators
on the grand juries ? plus $5,000 each for him and Carl and then
$5,000 to rent a house if they are in full belief that Tim has gold
, he is rich and he has all the money?


And what does a business deal, money and SPC have to do with grand
juries duties to the people?


The evidence is everywhere,. it is in the webs, the audios even Sam
Kennedy said all of this was happening and he was cut
off......... .Tim Turner said in PDX not two months ago when asked
about Sam ( some 30 witnesses including me) that : " Oh Sam, my man
( my man ??) asked me if I wanted him "taken out", I said, no, we
better not, we will just leave him alone....... ...."


Everywhere Tim talks he talks like this and then he will speak of
peace like the anti christ...... ......... .


Here is another one of Tims remakrs, " you pull them over and he
is a drug dealer, and get him out of the car, and ( Tim makes a gun
out of his hand) and shoots, "pop" right in the
head........ ....that' s how you take care of that........ ...
some freaked out man said, " That is a bit violent, I thought you
advocated forgiveness, ( of defacto agents, yes)
but Tim tells him, ""well, in the republic things will be tough,
and we need to realize that........ ......)
Really like bringing in the UN, INTERNATIONAL COURTS THROUGH
INTERPOL AND THE ONE WORLD CHURCH AND NEW WORLD ORDER ?
It is really time for straight honesty...but I do not think these
people are capable of knowing what that means.


Money is the root of all evil if NESARA wants money for the good of
the people it can not come from evilness and self greed brought
through harm and lies. True Abundance does not come like that, in
fact it will cause more harm in the long run. If you don't believe
in biblical quotes then I can put it this way, This sort of Karma,
is a Bitch !!

"We the People" and "the posterity"


For those of you that have not read the article, found on my
RESOURCES page, THE MATRIX AND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION
, please do so. This is one of the most
enlightening and important documents I have ever read. It was,
supposedly, written by a judge of 12 years, and he has some
interesting things to say about the Constitution, and WHY it was
REALLY written in the first place, that you may not have
considered. It may surprise you to learn what is really going
on, and that you are NOT a party to ANY constitution OR
declaration of the U.S. or u.S A.


Excerpt from that document:
"THE motive of our Founding Fathers was totally
self-centered. It was their personal greed that inspired them to
accept the task of writing the Constitution of the United States
and not patriotism! In actuality, the United States is not a land
or a place: `It is a corporation, a legal fiction that
existed well before the Revolutionary War.' [See: Republica
v. Sween, 1 Dallas 43 and 28 U. S. C. 3002 (15)].


The Constitution of the United
States was
written in secret
by the Founding
Fathers and
was never presented
to the Colonists
for a vote.
Surely, any document
as important as
this demanded the
approval of the
people it governed!
Well, it wasn't
presented for a
vote because the

abolish destructive government as memorialized in The unanimous

united States, OR WHO the "we the People" and "the posterity" actually

US Forces' Use of Depleted Uranium Weapons is 'Illegal'

BRITISH and American coalition forces are using depleted uranium (DU) shells in the war against Iraq and deliberately flouting a United Nations resolution which classifies the munitions as illegal weapons of mass destruction.

DU contaminates land, causes ill-health and cancers among the soldiers using the weapons, the armies they target and civilians, leading to birth defects in children.

Professor Doug Rokke, ex-director of the Pentagon's depleted uranium project -- a former professor of environmental science at Jacksonville University and onetime US army colonel who was tasked by the US department of defense with the post-first Gulf war depleted uranium desert clean-up -- said use of DU was a 'war crime'.

Rokke said: 'There is a moral point to be made here. This war was about Iraq possessing illegal weapons of mass destruction -- yet we are using weapons of mass destruction ourselves.' He added: 'Such double-standards are repellent.'

The latest use of DU in the current conflict came on Friday when an American A10 tankbuster plane fired a DU shell, killing one British soldier and injuring three others in a 'friendly fire' incident.

According to a August 2002 report by the UN subcommission, laws which are breached by the use of DU shells include: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the Charter of the United Nations; the Genocide Convention; the Convention Against Torture; the four Geneva Conventions of 1949; the Conventional Weapons Convention of 1980; and the Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907, which expressly forbid employing 'poison or poisoned weapons' and 'arms, projectiles or materials calculated to cause unnecessary suffering'. All of these laws are designed to spare civilians from unwarranted suffering in armed conflicts.

DU has been blamed for the effects of Gulf war syndrome -- typified by chronic muscle and joint pain, fatigue and memory loss -- among 200,000 US soldiers after the 1991 conflict.

It is also cited as the most likely cause of the 'increased number of birth deformities and cancer in Iraq' following the first Gulf war.

'Cancer appears to have increased between seven and 10 times and deformities between four and six times,' according to the UN subcommission.

The Pentagon has admitted that 320 metric tons of DU were left on the battlefield after the first Gulf war, although Russian military experts say 1000 metric tons is a more accurate figure.

In 1991, the Allies fired 944,000 DU rounds or some 2700 tons of DU tipped bombs. A UK Atomic Energy Authority report said that some 500,000 people would die before the end of this century, due to radioactive debris left in the desert.

The use of DU has also led to birth defects in the children of Allied veterans and is believed to be the cause of the 'worrying number of anophthalmos cases -- babies born without eyes' in Iraq. Only one in 50 million births should be anophthalmic, yet one Baghdad hospital had eight cases in just two years. Seven of the fathers had been exposed to American DU anti-tank rounds in 1991. There have also been cases of Iraqi babies born without the crowns of their skulls, a deformity also linked to DU shelling.

A study of Gulf war veterans showed that 67% had children with severe illnesses, missing eyes, blood infections, respiratory problems and fused fingers.

Rokke told the Sunday Herald: 'A nation's military personnel cannot wilfully contaminate any other nation, cause harm to persons and the environment and then ignore the consequences of their actions.

'To do so is a crime against humanity.

'We must do what is right for the citizens of the world -- ban DU.'

He called on the US and UK to 'recognize the immoral consequences of their actions and assume responsibility for medical care and thorough environmental remediation'.

He added: 'We can't just use munitions which leave a toxic wasteland behind them and kill indiscriminately.

'It is equivalent to a war crime.'

Rokke said that coalition troops were currently fighting in the Gulf without adequate respiratory protection against DU contamination.

The Sunday Herald has previously revealed how the Ministry of Defense had test-fired some 6350 DU rounds into the Solway Firth over more than a decade, from 1989 to 1999.

Rare mushroom blamed for mystery deaths in China

A tiny mushroom, little known to scientists, is behind some 400
sudden deaths in China, experts say.

For 30 years, during the rainy season, scores of villagers in Yunnan
province have died suddenly of cardiac arrest. Following a 5-year
investigation, researchers from the Chinese Centre for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) in Beijing say they have the culprit.

The mushroom, know as "little white", belongs to the _Trogia_ genus
and has 3 toxic amino acids, experts say.

Researchers found that the deaths, known as Yunnan sudden death
syndrome, occurred almost always during rainy season (from June to
August), and at an altitude of 1800-2400 m (5900-7900 ft).

"We heard amazing stories about how people would drop dead in the
middle of a conversation," Zhang Shu, a cardiologist who took part in
the CDC study, told Science magazine.

"About two thirds of victims, in the hours before death experienced
symptoms such as heart palpitations, nausea, dizziness, seizures, and
fatigue," he said.

The investigation was initially hampered by language barriers, and
the remote locations of the Yunnan villages.

However, in 2008, the scientists noted that the little white mushroom
was often found in the homes where people had died.

Yunnan province is well-known for its wild mushrooms, many of which
are exported at high prices. Families, who make their living by
collecting and selling the fungi, eat the little white as it has no
commercial value -- it is too small and turns brown shortly after being picked.

A campaign to warn people against eating the tiny mushrooms has
dramatically reduced the number of deaths. There have been no
reported deaths so far this year [2010].

However, the scientists are carrying out further tests to find out
why the mushroom is so lethal, as testing found the mushroom
contained toxins, though not enough to be deadly.

"What's happening in Yunnan isn't expected from any other mushroom
toxin," said Robert Fontaine, a US epidemiologist who took part in
the investigation. "What we have here is a toxin that is picking off
vulnerable people," he told Science. He suggested that the toxins
could be acting together with high concentrations of barium, a heavy
metal, in the local water supply.

A tiny white mushroom may have triggered fatal heart attacks in
hundreds of villagers in south west China, scientists have said.

Researchers descended on Yunnan province in China 5 years ago to try
to solve the mystery of Yunnan sudden death syndrome. Each summer for
the past 30 years, during rainy season, scores of villagers of all
ages would suddenly drop dead because of cardiac arrest. As many as
400 deaths have been recorded since the 1980s. "We heard amazing
stories about how people would drop dead in the middle of a
conversation," said Zhang Shu, a cardiologist who assisted the
investigation by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and
Prevention in Beijing.

There was a "very obvious clustering of deaths" in Yunnanese villages
"in a very short period of time in the summer," said Robert Fontaine,
an American epidemiologist who also took part in the study.
Initially, the team had trouble pinpointing the culprit. Most
villagers only spoke their own dialect while their villages were
remote and often blocked by landslides. Rapid burials made it
difficult to conduct autopsies.

However, in 2008, the scientists spotted that the _Trogia_ mushroom,
known locally as the little white or butterfly mushroom, was often
found in the homes where people had died.

Villagers who made their living by collecting and selling wild
mushrooms could not sell the _Trogia_ because it was too small.
Instead, they took them home and ate them. "We repeatedly found it at
all these sites," said Mr Fontaine.

A campaign to warn people against eating the tiny mushrooms has
dramatically reduced the number of deaths, with none reported so far
this year [2010].

However, the scientists remain unsure about why the mushroom is so
lethal. Tests have shown that while it contains toxins, it does not
contain enough to be deadly. Mr Fontaine hypothesised that the toxins
could be acting together with the high concentrations of barium, a
heavy metal, in the local water supply.

The mushroom is believed to be in Marasmiaceae family. Shiitake

Witness flight path vs official flight path
Researchers present new eyewitness testimony which they say proves the
government's story to be a "monstrous lie"
A three year independent investigation into the September 11, 2001 attack
on the Pentagon has yielded new eyewitness evidence which, according to the
Southern California-based researchers who conducted the investigation,
"conclusively (and unfortunately) establishes as a historical fact that the
violence which took place in Arlington that day was not the result of a
surprise attack by suicide hijackers, but rather a military black operation
involving a carefully planned and skillfully executed deception."
They have compiled the most pertinent testimony into an 81 minute video
presentation entitled National Security Alert, which has earned the respect
and praise of a growing number of distinguished academics, journalists,
writers, entertainers, pilots, and military personnel.
The investigation involved multiple trips to the scene of the crime in
Arlington, Virginia, close scrutiny of all official and unofficial data
related to the event, and, most importantly, first-person interviews with dozens
of eyewitnesses, many of which were conducted and filmed in the exact
locations from which they witnessed the plane that allegedly struck the building
that day. It was primarily conducted by two men named Craig Ranke and Aldo
Marquis, also known as Citizen Investigation Team, or CIT.
"There were a growing number of people in the United States and around the
world who were suspicious of the government's story about what had
happened at the Pentagon that day," Ranke explains. "The doubts were initially
fueled by the dubious damage to the building, which seemed incompatible with a
757 crash, the deliberate lack of transparency by the authorities, and
many other issues, but they really intensified after a team of professional
pilots (Pilots for 9/11 Truth) analyzed the data obtained from the National
Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) via a Freedom of Information Act request
in 2006, which was supposedly from the black box of American Airlines
Flight 77, and found that the last reported altitude of the plane was far too
high to have struck the light poles or the building. This meant that either
the plane did not cause the observed physical damage, that the government had
released fraudulent data, or both."
"We were tired of the cover-up, but we were also frustrated with the
dead-end theorizing that was taking place", says Marquis of the project's
genesis. "We knew that the only way we were ever going to know what had really
happened was if we actually went to the area, knocked on doors, and
interviewed everyday people about what they saw."

these eyewitness accounts are aggregated, they paint a very disturbing
picture, say the researchers.
"To put it as concisely as possible, the plane had to have flown on a very
specific flight path in the final seconds before it reached the Pentagon
in order to have caused the observed damage, starting with the light poles
that were photographed on the ground and ending with the directional damage
to the building itself which was outlined in detail by the American Society
of Civil Engineers," explains Ranke. "The government claims the plane flew
on this flight path and hit the building. The eyewitnesses in all of the
most critical vantage points, on the other hand, independently, unanimously,
and unequivocally report a drastically different flight path, proving that
the plane absolutely could not have hit the light poles or the building.
It is a non-controversial scientific fact that a strike from this trajectory
would have caused a very different damage path."
It wasn't just witnesses who watched the plane approach the building that
the team spoke with, however.
"We've also published our interview with a Pentagon police officer who saw
the plane flying away from the Pentagon immediately after the explosion",
says Marquis. "We already knew that the plane could not have hit based on
the testimony of the witnesses on the other side of the building who watched
it approach, but it was still vindicating to get this kind of
confirmation."
A 2006 Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll found that "More than a third
of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11
terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could
go to war in the Middle East." Nevertheless, Ranke and Marquis acknowledge
it is still quite controversial to claim, as they do, that "criminal
elements within the U.S. government" were complicit in the attacks.
"If you are skeptical of (or even incensed by) this statement we do not
blame you," reads a note on the front page of their website,
CitizenInvestigationTeam.com. "We are not asking you to take our word for it, nor do we
want you to do that. We want you to view the evidence and see with your own
eyes that this is the case. We want you to hear it directly from the
eyewitnesses who were there, just as we did."
Many people seem to be taking them up on this offer. Their video has
already received almost 70,000 views online since it was first posted to their
website a few weeks ago with only a grass roots promotional effort behind
it.
Perhaps more notable than the size of the audience, however, is the
caliber of some of the people in it. A newly-published compendium of endorsements
on the CitizenInvestigationTeam.com website includes praise from a wide
array of distinguished and well-respected Americans.
Emmy-award winning actor and former president of The Screen actors Guild,
Ed Asner, calls the film a "reasoned, and methodical look at witness
testimony the day the Pentagon was attacked on Sept. 11th".
Prolific non-ficition author Dr. Peter Dale Scott, Professor Emeritus of
the University of California, Berkeley affirms that the film "successfully
rebuts the official account of Flight 77's flight path on 9/11 as it
approached the Pentagon".
"If you accept the placement of the plane as independently and unanimously
reported by the witnesses presented in CIT's video National Security
Alert, science proves that it did not cause the physical damage at the Pentagon
on 9/11/2001", says FAA certified pilot Robert Balsamo.
Dr. David Ray Griffin, author of The New Pearl Harbour Revisited: 9/11,
the Cover-Up, and the Exposé and many other titles, says he is "pleased to be
able to recommend this important film with enthusiasm", while scholar,
author, and radio host Dr. Kevin Barrett says that the film proves "that the
official version of the attack on the Pentagon is false, and that the attack
must have been a deceptive military operation, not the kamikaze crash of a
hijacked commercial jet."
Scott McKinsey, an award-winning network television director, says "The
DVD offers no theorizing or speculation; only corroborated eyewitness
evidence contradicting the official flight data to support an overwhelming
argument that a plane did not slam into the Pentagon on 9/11".
Architect Richard Gage, AIA, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11
Truth (AE911Truth.org), a coalition of over 700 professional architects and
engineers calling for a new independent investigation of the destruction
of the three skyscrapers in New York on 9/11 (the third was World Trade
Center 7), calls the film "long overdue, but worth waiting for" and says that
it "deserves serious attention".
Retired Navy Commander and aviator James R. Compton calls National
Security Alert "the best reporting I've seen in a long, long time" and "a must see
for every citizen in our country".
"Government and media figures who dare ignore evidence this conclusive do
so at their own peril", warns Lt. Col. Shelton Lankford, a retired Marine
pilot who has flown 303 combat missions.

Preparation: Compile a list of media figures, authority figures, and
elected representatives (politicians), both local and national. Obviously the
list could be endless, so prioritize and maintain a manageable workload.
Perhaps set a goal to send out letters to a certain number of individuals
every week. Also, make sure to always address specific individuals by name.
This is critical if we expect to ever force accountability.

Stage 1: Send each individual on your list a copy of the National Security
Alert DVD, along with a personalized letter requesting that they view the
evidence and respond appropriately depending on their position. Request that
media people report on it. Request that elected representatives and other
appropriate authorities seek indictments. If you can afford to send all
or some of them registered mail that would be ideal for documentation
purposes.

Stage 2: Send them a personally addressed follow up letter two weeks later
asking if they received the first letter and have viewed the evidence.

Stage 3: If you have still not received a response by the time two more
weeks elapse, send a third letter suggesting that their failure to respond and
act on the evidence is being documented and will be published if they
continue to fail to take action. Request a response by a certain deadline as to
what they plan to do about the information. Be firm, but polite.

Stage 4: If you still haven't received a response by your declared
deadline, send them a final letter telling them that you are deeply disappointed
that they have failed to respond appropriately and informing them that
their failure to respond has been documented and will be published. The same
can apply even if you have received a response and they simply refuse to act
on the information. Such a failure to act on the part of politicians and
authority figures is particularly problematic for them since their inaction
to the information is tantamount to the crimes of _obstruction of

this with one final request for a response.

Stage 5: Report back to this website with your results after you feel you
have exhausted all efforts with any particular individual. We will
maintain a published list of individuals who have failed to respond or take
action, and we will build a case for the aforementioned crimes when appropriate.
The more evidence of your correspondence you can make available the
stronger case we will have.

However much pressure you decide to put on any specific individual is up
to you, but the more aggressive you get within legal boundaries the better.
For instance, you may want to show up and confront some of the most
critical individuals on your list in person if they insist on being complicit in
the on-going cover-up. Get them to tell you to your face (or your video
camera) exactly why they refuse to do anything about the evidence, if that is
the case. This type of action is not the least bit out of line or uncalled
for given that the implications of the information you are providing them
with are literally a matter of life and death.

This is strictly a non-violent campaign, and again, it is an organized
effort with the main goal of seeking out honest people who are able to
understand the implications of this evidence and who are in a position to do
something about it in the public and/or legal arenas, while putting legal
pressure on those who insist on keeping this important information suppressed.

According to the Syrian opposition in exile, the Syrian president, who
is visiting Latin America, has ordered the shutdown of all Syrian
military exercises due to a plague that currently affects a large
number of military, especially conscripts doing their training.
Drinking water and food in the bases and the current heat wave are the
cause of the epidemic.

Touched by a terrible drought, this epidemic (which reminds us of the
Middle Ages) could cause extensive damage to elements of the Syrian
army in the coming weeks. Military sources have completely rejected
the possibility of outside intervention that could be causing the
epidemic.

Syria is currently facing the worst drought in 40 years. Hundreds of
thousands of people are experiencing food shortages; peasants have
been decimated, and many people are fleeing the country. Already,
nearly 60 000 small livestock owners have lost all their animals, and
50 000 others have lost 50-60 percent of their cattle.

If the early symptoms of plague have occurred in the military (the
Syrian army has 215 000 men, plus 300 000 reservists), it is probable
that the soldiers will spread the disease, especially with the
approach of Ramadan [11 Aug-9 Sep 2010] when a great number of
soldiers return to their villages.

The last plague epidemic in Europe was in 1910.

[Plague is a bacterial infection of humans and other animals, caused
by the Gram-negative bacillus _Yersinia pestis_. Three major plague
pandemics have been recorded in human history: the 1st in the 6th
century; the 2nd in the 14th century, which killed up to 1/3rd of the
European population; and the 3rd at the end of the 19th century
followed the spread of infection from China. Sporadic cases and
limited outbreaks of plague continue occur currently in various
countries throughout the world. However, during the winter of 1910 to
1911, an explosive epidemic of primary pneumonic plague raged in
Manchuria and northern China and killed more than 50 000 people
[Levison ME. Lessons learned from history on mode of transmission for
control of pneumonic plague. Curr Infect Dis Reports. 2000; 2 (4):
269-271].

In the United States, the last urban plague epidemic occurred in Los
Angeles in 1924-25. Since then, human plague in the United States has
occurred as mostly scattered cases in rural areas (an average of 10 to
15 persons each year); more than 90 percent of human plague occurs in
the Southwest, especially New Mexico, Arizona, California, and
Colorado. Plague bacillus has also been listed among possible
bioterrorism agents.

Wild rodents in certain areas around the world are infected with the
plague bacillus. The organism is transmitted among these animals by
the bite of infected fleas. Plague may spill over from wild rodents
into the peridomestic rodent populations and their fleas, which bring
plague into human contact. The usual mode of transmission for bubonic
plague is the bite of an infected rat flea. Direct contacts with
tissue or bodily fluids of an infected animal or inhaling infectious
airborne droplets of respiratory secretions are other modes of
transmission.

Outbreaks of plague are most likely to occur when rats live closely
with humans, usually in poverty-stricken areas with poor sanitation,
and when humans share habitat with wild rodents infected with plague
bacteria.

Plague occurs mainly in 3 clinical forms: Bubonic plague, with
enlarged, tender lymph nodes (buboes), fever, chills and prostration;
septicemic plague, with fever, chills, prostration, shock and bleeding
into skin and other organs; and pneumonic plague, with fever, chills,
cough, and difficulty breathing. Septicemic plague may occur with or
without bubonic plague. Pneumonic plague may either be due to a
secondary spread through the bloodstream of advanced bubonic plague
(secondary pneumonic plague), or due to inhalation of aerosolized
infectious droplets (primary pneumonic plague). Pharyngeal plague and
plague meningitis are less common forms. Rapid diagnosis and treatment
is essential to reduce complications and fatality.

As noted by ProMED moderator JW, plague has occurred in this region
historically

However, the news release above fails to detail microbiologic
confirmation, clinical manifestations and epidemiology of this current
outbreak among the Syrian military. Curiously, the news release above
says that drinking water, food, and a heat wave are causes of the
epidemic, but if this outbreak were plague due to _Y. pestis_, these
would be unlikely "causes," unless in some way they increased contact
between humans, infected rodents and rat fleas.
